The Monroe County Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc. was organized for the purpose of promoting interest in and preserving the heritage of Monroe County, Kentucky. In an effort to fulfill this purpose, the organization will aid in the preservation of historical and genealogical documents or artifacts. The Monroe County Historical and Genealogical Society will also promote culture and the arts, establishing and maintaining a Monroe County Museum of History and Art, as well as a Genealogical Research Room. The general purpose of these efforts shall be to collect, preserve, and exhibit objects of value in order to understand the history, art, and natural environment of Monroe County.
