The Monroe County Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc. organized for the purpose of serving as an educational organization dedicated to the promotion of interest in the past heritage of Monroe County, Kentucky and to the preservation of that heritage. To that end the organization will aid in the preservation of any historical and genealogical documents or artifacts, promote culture and the arts and establish and maintain a Monroe County Museum of History and Art, as well as, a Genealogical Research Room, in which the general purpose shall be to collect, preserve, and exhibit objects of value for understanding the history, art and natural environment of Monroe County.
